BuilderLog — Job & Expense Tracker for Self Employed Builders | BuilderLog

Every job. Every penny. Zero hassle.

Track jobs, log costs and claim your mileage. Generate CSCS invoices and get your self assessment figures at the tap of a button. Free to start — no download needed.

Making Tax Digital starts April 2026 for builders earning over £50,000. BuilderLog keeps your records in the right digital format automatically — ready for quarterly HMRC submissions without any extra work.

Built for builders. Not businesses with builders.

Tradify, Jobber and ServiceM8 are great if you’re running a team. If you’re working alone, you’re paying for features you’ll never use. BuilderLog is built for one person — you.

Everything a sole trader builder needs

Job tracking

Log each job with customer, quoted price and job type — extensions, kitchens, loft conversions, renovations, new builds. Track open jobs, completed jobs and outstanding payments at a glance.

Cost logging per job

Log materials, labour hours, mileage, skip hire, equipment hire, scaffolding and parking against each job. See your real margin — not just what you quoted.

Mileage tracking

Log every business journey. BuilderLog calculates your claimable amount at 55p per mile automatically. A builder doing 10,000 miles a year can claim £5,500 — most claim nothing.

Week view

See all your jobs laid out across the next 7 days. Know what Monday looks like before it arrives.

Quote generator

Build a professional quote with line items on your phone. Print it or send it before you leave site. Pro users can convert an accepted quote to a job in one tap.

Client database

Save repeat customers with name, phone and address. Select them when creating a job or quote instead of retyping every time.

CSCS invoices (Pro)

Generate a professional invoice on site with your CSCS card number. Print it, save it as a PDF, or email it to the customer before you pack up.

Tax report (Pro)

Select the tax year and tap print. Your full self assessment summary — income, costs, profit, estimated tax — is ready. No spreadsheet, no accountant required for the basic figures.

Business expenses

Log one-off costs that aren’t tied to a specific job — new tools, insurance, CSCS renewal, van MOT, training courses. These are included in your tax report automatically.

Common questions

Is BuilderLog only for UK builders?

No. BuilderLog supports the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Ireland, with the correct currency, mileage rate and tax terminology for each.

Do I need to download anything?

No. BuilderLog runs in your phone or computer’s web browser. Add it to your home screen and it looks and feels like a normal app, but there’s nothing to install.

What’s different from Tradify or ServiceM8?

Those tools are built for construction companies with a team — scheduling, dispatch, multiple tradespeople. BuilderLog is built specifically for one person working alone, with no features you’ll never use and no team pricing.

Can I claim my BuilderLog subscription on tax?

Yes. Software subscriptions used for your business are a legitimate business expense.

What about Making Tax Digital?

From April 2026, sole traders earning over £50,000 must submit quarterly digital records to HMRC. BuilderLog keeps your job and cost records organised throughout the year, so you’re not scrambling when a deadline arrives.

How does the mileage rate work?

Enter the number of miles you drove for a job and BuilderLog calculates the claimable amount automatically, using the current HMRC approved rate (55p/mile from April 2026 in the UK, with the correct local rate for other countries).
